We agree on that point. That's why the anonymous, gutless cowards here need to ID themselves. Saying "He's a kook" or threatening violence repeatedly at a public place -- now THOSE are possibly actionable statements. And "faux hypocorism" or some form of it is actually allowed. I was asking if "you" -- not necessarily you in particular -- had been part of any additional building fiascoes. You could say no -- as you did -- and that would be the end of it. I wouldn't enjoy trying to repair the damage created by another board's foolish decisions from a decade earlier. I wouldn't enjoy pretending that a voter-approved referendum needs scrutiny, especially when said board has been more than reckless with said voters' money.
Right now, my act to improve the community is to deal with this site, which I believe to be a tremendous disservice to the community. We don't need anonymous stone-throwers. Many of the people here could pack up and leave today, and they would not be missed. We'd be better off.

Um, putting up a moldy building at taxpayer expense is a very specific misdeed. Otherwise, you'd have to be claiming not to be talking about the nursing home, which would make all of your subsequent points about the referendum inoperative and irrelevant. Claiming to not be talking about the nursing home would be contradictory in the extreme.
"Also, the "you" doesn't have to be you in particular."
"I was asking if "you" -- not necessarily you in particular"
When you say "Kevvy, have you..." I don't see any possible interpretation of English grammatical construction that allows the "you" to be someone other than me. Failure to recognize this effectively ends all possibility of meaningful conversation, since you would be making up an entirely new language on the spot.

Of course not, but individuals can certainly bear personal responsibility for screwing it up. However, none of that excuses you from the content of your allegations about me. If you had any courage of your convictions whatsoever, you would attempt to defend your allegations. Alternately, if you had any common decency (or sensibility) you would just acknowledge their erroneous nature and apologize. Instead, you choose to embark on a weaselly acrobatic routine designed to deny the very existence of your own comments, and select the cowardly tactic of refusing to accept any responsibility for your own clearly displayed words.
"Don't you have to start planning for an election to lose?"
What election would that be, perchance? Do you know something I don't? Since I'm not currently holding any public office, nor do I have any intention of running for one in 2010, I'm not currently involved in the planning for any election. Or is this just another mistatement of fact on your part?

Regarding the usual challenge to "serve or shut up": Sorry, no. Doesn't work that way. In fact, any elected official who makes that claim is announcing that he or she needs to be voted out ASAP. I might enjoy serving on a board or two. But I wouldn't enjoy nodding at some elitist's idiotic idea to build prairie grass sculptures along U.S. 45.
"Kevvy, that wasn't an accusation of a specific misdeed."
"And "faux hypocorism" or some form of it is actually allowed."
It may be allowed, "Robby," but it is also condescending, patronizing, and insulting.
Kevvy, does anyone put up a large building by themselves? Get real.
"It may be allowed, "Robby," but it is also condescending, patronizing, and insulting."
Um, that's the intent. Glad you picked up on that. I was playing off your original comment, which also displayed those traits.
Don't you have to start planning for an election to lose?
"Kevvy, does anyone put up a large building by themselves? Get real."
Does an insincere apology count? If so, then I'm sorry that statement bothered you.
How do I know whether you're running for office in 2010? There's a live link with your name on it, so I went off that. That would be no different than what people do here all the time. They see a line of text. They don't bother to check it. They post about it.
Hope this helps. Just wanted you to know a little about what named posters have to deal with here.
the irony of "Wenalway" attacking other posters for not using their real names is just too rich...
This thread is closed. Robert Knilands / Wenalway is a troll, and has been banned from IP.com for repetitive, insulting comments, of which this thread is a great example. So please remember that Robert Knilands / Wenalway is a troll, and please don't respond to his comments. I'll get around to removing them eventually.
Thanks, and sorry Kevin. :-(
