I think Palin should now start using this exposure to her own benefit,,,McCain is toast,,,so now it is time to look after herself,,,,she is already slated to do an American Express commercial,,,,she should line up a shoe contract,,,,clothing line,  she could be the next "Target Girl" line of clothes,,,,lip stick line,,I am not kidding about this,,,,,go for the bucks Sarah,,,,and make some hay for yourself.

The McCain campaign is getting creamed on the economy. So they're hoping that they can change the subject:

"We're looking to turn the page on this financial crisis and getting back to discussing Mr. Obama's aggressively liberal record and how he will be too risky for the Americans," said Greg Strimple, a senior McCain adviser.

How's that page turning going? Well, the Dow just dumped 400 points and is fighting to get back above 10,000.

Now, the wayback machine:

Under Bill Clinton, the Dow went from 3241.95 to 10,587.60. Total growth: 327%.

At the moment, under George Bush, the Dow has lost six percent of the value it had when he took office.

Chalk up another one for Republican borrow-and-spend economic policies. It's not a free lunch if your grandkids have to pay for it.

Quick! Somebody mention lipstick, or Bill Ayres! Let's talk about *anything* except how Republican economic theory works out in the real world.

It was great to see the congressional Democratic leadership patting themselves on the back last week as they passed the Wall Street bailout bill.

Even better was the picture of Pelosi with a huge smile on her face as she signed the bill.  I guess it is a good feeling to flush 700B down the toilet???

Bye bye, incumbent congresscritters.  Please let the door hit you on the way out.

In light of what the markets are doing today, it will be interesting to see whether any of our governments will bite the economic bullet along with the rest of us, or whether they'll continue to demand more, ala the City of Champaign and the development fee issue--the argument that government needs more income just doesn't fly right now in light of people losing a third of their retirement funds, etc.  I suppose the next thing that we'll see are demands by public employees for more money because they're losing economic power.  Should make for an interersting year.

For those of you who keep insisting people were just being stupid and there was no fraud in the subprime loan mess, please read:

Any reason the "NG Series on Single Mothers" post doesn't allow comments?

Because I'm an idiot.

Fixing it now.

Democrats sure seem happy they put the economy in the tank.

As Joe Biden would say, God love ya.

Biden is known for saying a lot of weird stuff.

Well, we have come to the last reel. The old diminutive gunslinger is due in on the Last Train from Yuma. Ma Kettle in Prada Pumps has loaded up her trusty shooting iron and is skulking up the alley toward the depot winging wild shots toward the Sheriff. The fortunate son from Connecticut (played by Harvey Korman) is down at the bank, packing to get outta Dodge and stuffing his pockets with sub-prime mortgages.

We should have known it would come to this. They wasn’t gonna let no hyper-educated elitist Half-Breed take over their town, no-siree-Bob! So the townsfolk are peeking out from behind the curtains at the Half-Breed striding confidently toward the depot down Main Street. The only thing that they can do is to wait for the credits to roll and see if the screen play was written by Mel Brooks.

I'm Keith Hays and I approve this message!

"Oh, look out for Keith!"
