Buffenbarger Switcheroo

This is interesting, but could been seen coming for months:

Andrew Buffenbarger resigned from the Champaign County Nursing Home on Monday, only to start work there Tuesday.

As of Tuesday, he's an employee of Management Performance Associates of the St. Louis, which was hired last week at $15,000 a month to manage the nursing home.

As part of the deal, MPA was to supply an administrator acceptable to the county board, which actually pays his $88,150 salary.

No vote was taken at the most recent county board meeting on whether Buffenbarger was acceptable.

Discuss.

I find it absolutely incredible, but it looks like this is what they had in mind all along.

I will say right now to the Champaign County Board,,,,,,,you are going to wish that you had sent Buffenbarger down the road.` I cannot believe that even you members of the board would keep that guy after all that has gone on,  open season is ahead I promise you.

So now that Buffy is employed by a private firm, the county board members can no longer vote on his removal?

The County board remains ultimately responsible for and in charge of the Nursng Home.  If we can muster the votes, we can dismiss Buffenbarger, cancel the mangement contract, and dispense with the Operating Committee, or, if the votes are there, sell the Home.  The problem lies in the fact that the Board does, in fact, represent most of the major interests groups in the electorate and it is difficult to muster the votes for ANY decisive action.  Ralph Langenheim

Does MPA have authority to dismiss Buffenbarger, or for that matter anyone else in the Nursing Home management?

If you read the contract, MPA may dismiss the administrator; not the CB. The CB missed the finess. The CB approves the administrator and salary and benefits thereof. The administrator fires the DON and other staff. Unless, the contract was changed after being posted and before being signed.

No Pattsie, that's only mortgage lenders who change documents after they've been signed.  Please get your goofy conspiracy theories straight.

And no the CB did not miss the "finess" on the MPA contract.  Apparently, some of the rest of you did.

Same old business,,,,,the cb learned nothing,,,,,Buffenbarger and Inman still on the payroll. You just missed having the doors shut by a very slim margin,,,,,,,very slim, one could almost taste it.  Well, I cant hear the fat lady singing yet,,,,or is that now the weight challenged indiviual, whatever.

Pootsie--you miss read what I wrote--I stated that there might be a change in the contract between what Mark Shelden posted on Illinipundit and what finally went to the CB and was passed. I did not say that a contract was changed after it was signed.
