How does it work if you're a potential witness, rather than a suspect? Is it still a bad idea to talk to the police? For example, what about a situation where somebody was sitting at a dock at Crystal Lake Park having a beer and they saw someone get stabbed? Should they refuse to talk to the police because of the risk that they could get in trouble for an ordinance violation?
