"There is no such thing as bad publicity", says my wife's Chicago relatives in response to my pointing this article out to them.  Obviously corruption is a way of life and has been for generations in the 'windy' city as I hear comments from them like, "At least he didn't kill anyone like the last Republican Governor."

This statement coupled with the NYT article Mike has cited here, pretty much sums up how non-Illionians view politics in this state.  Unfortunately, corruption in the Illinois political system appears to me as a state systemic disease not just a city disease.  I know most local politicians and many commentors on this Blog probably disagree about corruption being so far reaching, so here are my questions.  Is either of the major political parties willing to purge the corruption within their ranks?  Has the local county political parties in this state cleaned up their acts or is the whole system 'rotten to the core'?  Where do the CC political parties stand on corruption?
