General Apology for Being an Obnoxious Jerk Lately!

I think I've probably been more obnoxious and more of jerk lately to our Obama fans.  My disappointment in the candidate has me getting into spirited debates with a lot of Obama supporters here and little quicker on the submit trigger than I probably should be.  Though I've probably deleted more than I've actually posted with second thoughts, I think I've been a bit more than unfair... especially with some of my favorite political sparring partners.

I've been too dismissive.  I've been hypercritical.  I've been overly presumptuous.  I've been hypocritical in lumping people together unfairly.  And I've been using way too much hyperbole.

So to everyone I've been an obnoxious jerk to lately, I apologize for all of the above.

Well done.

Thank you.

Although I never found myself in your direct path recently, I appreciate your mea culpa nonetheless.  It compels me to remove you  from a somewhat unsavory list in my own mind -- a list you probably never belonged on anyway.

It's all good.

Glock,

Don't apologize. Obama is a socialist stooge. People should be ashamed to support him.

Glock - fwiw I actually have very little problem with the way you argue your points.  I think you are a very intelligent young man who has an interesting take on the world.  So please don't stop posting your opinions of the issues!

But the personal insults aren't really necessary and I appreciate your willingness to own up.  If I have said anything that was directed at your personally (as opposed to arguing against your debate points) then I also apologize.

I know we all try to keep it civil but sometimes it is really difficult.  You are not alone.

Cheers!

"Obama is a socialist stooge."

Well, not really:

He’s as close to a socialist as it gets in serious contenders for the presidency; but that’s not very close. He’s part of a long movement that has adopted some of the tools of socialism in an effort to make society better, with decidedly mixed results.

Please take note, Obama supporters, that in a spirit of peace and cooperation, I am in fact defending him.

;-)

...And I'm sure you mean that in the kindest most possible way, Gordy!

Glock, I like you just fine.  I've never had problems with you even if we don't always agree on issues.  You are somebody I can have a drink with, argue politics with, and not feel like it is a personal thing.  I value that.

Now that Run4CoverLib dude--he's another story...

: )

When I saw the title on the sidebar, I thought, "Wait, did I post that? Should I have?"

Glock doesnt really mean it.

Laura it's just that Kevin guy he causes all the trouble, I am fine. You know we all need to get together again. Before we have to do all those Parade's.

Glock;

I feel your pain and someone in pain needs comfort not critizied.  You helped me "hash" through the many different issues that would be lost on many who do not follow the conversations.  So Glock is good in my eyes but mostly for eliminating the candidates and see who survives.  For example; I like Mccain and intended to vote for him,.....until Obama spoke about old white voters that was miss informed living in the  midwest . No that hurt. and made me bleed trailer park blood. but yet, as obama, told us not to count him out as long as we are picking up our own 40oz of malt.liquor and throwing then in the trash.  Mr. B did not, but gave us nuch needed advice for personal responsibilty.  He was right.  I gave for McCain until he lost my party.  Refusing to accept the hillery, only means that I am a Obama supporter.  Not a stretch you see, just another why of coming to terms.

I enjoy your posts regardless of agreement.  That said, of late your polling percentage references without data on participants in my mind damages your position.  It might be the engineer or researcher background but to me "percentages" are just headlines without the data which supports them.

Sorry, I can't resist.  A socialist is someone who believes the government and a small group of elites should control the entire economy.  They will assign you your job, create "five year plans", assign clothing, automobiles, food rations, etc.

There is no such thing as an American socialist.  And there never will be.  Obama is a part of a long line of politicians who have responded to the excesses of capitalism by creating a welfare state to cushion the blow.  Thus, America is one of the many capitalist welfare-states in the world.  Our economy is almost solely based on the profit motive, and the buying and selling of goods.  In order for Obama to be a socialist, he would need to advocate the overthrow of the marketplace by the government, and the establishment of a government-controlled economy.  Wall Street would cease to exist, which would also destroy several other stock markets across the world.  Money would cease to be worth anything.  The malls would close.  The auto dealerships would dry up.  Almost every business you know would cease to exist as the government implemented control of every sector of the economy.

Obama is a socialist.  McCain is a fascist/socialist.  HC is a Marxist.
