This article, from the on-line New York Times, best describes the challenges facing the next president.

I always remain surprised that candidtaes are not asked who they would consider ideal members of their cabinet if they were elected. This would be a significant insight into a candidate's thinking and policies.

Well, I saw a Bill Richardson interview on Charlie Rose several weeks ago. Have to give the man a lot of credit, takes a lot of skill to talk out of both sides of your mouth in the same sentence. I wouldn't necessarily vote for him as president, but I can definitely see him in a cabinet position or ambassadorship if the Dems. win the general.
I would tend to think that no one wants to name potential cabinet nominees now because they're all still worried about rounding up enough delegates to be selected in their respective conventions, and no one wants to risk angering or offending anyone who can help get the voters to the polls on Primary day.
But after they get enough delegates to be assured of the nomination, ah, now that could get interesting..
And what about potential vice-presidential nominees? Yet another slugfest that I want the concession rights to.
I don't think Hillary is humble enough to accept a veep offer, especially to Obama (and I don't want her sinking his ticket).
I told my teenager I think Edwards is positioning himself to be Obama's veep if Obama gets the nomination. His response: "COOOOOLLLL!!!!" with two thumbs up.
