Sen. Frerichs No Longer D-Gifford

This is probably interesting only to me, but I noticed something when browsing the filings for Democratic Presidential Delegates for the 15th Congressional District:

FRERICHS, MICHAEL "MIKE" (OBAMA)
45 GREENCROFT DR.
CHAMPAIGN, IL 61821
15TH DEMOCRATIC DELEGATE
DEMOCRATIC
Active

State Sen. Mike Frerichs (D-Gifford) is no longer (D-Gifford) - he's moved to Champaign

Congratulations to the Frerichs' on their new home.  I'm sure the shorter commute to Springfield was a factor, especially given the incessant Session schedule this year.

He bought a house in Greencroft.

There goes the neighborhood!  He would probably be more at home in "Granolaland" formerly known as Urbana, Land of Fruits & Nuts.

Boggle.

Gee, I followed the link.  Seems he paid $270,000 for a house assessed at $297,000.  I thought all the houses in that neighborhood were under assessed!  Guess he got a real bargain, or the examples cited in the News Gazette article were cherry picked to meet Ms. Auble's agenda.

actually the underassesed properties being complained about were on the other side of the country club on Armory.

Yea that's right. Armory, where Jimmy John's mansion is!

Double boggle.

Very nice house, with lots of nice toys, success is a wonderful thing.  Toys for everyone!  Whats Hillary say on that? Or more importantly, whats Mit and Mr G say?

Post of the day.

Unbelievable.  Now a guy has no right to move, and if he does, then the critics tune up for another symphony of spewage.

Anybody care to tell me anything specifically wrong with the Frerichs moving to 45 Greencroft, Champaign?  The fact that he's a Democrat is not a reason.  The fact that Emil Jones is still the president of the state Senate is not a reason.  The fact that Rod Blagoevich is the governor is not a reason (it pains me to think of my tax dollars contributing to his salary, but it's still not a reason.)  "Gifford got punk'd" is funny and all but again, not a reason.

I've covered a few of the obvious ones for you.  What else ya got?

I hope Mike likes his new home. I also hope his state salary checks continue to clear. Knowing our governor, I wouldn't always count on that.

What will Mike do with all that footage of him in his Gifford FPD uniform?

I never said anything was wrong with it.  I posted it because I thought it was interesting, and, in fact, offered my sincere congratulations.  As I said, I don't blame him for moving, if for no other reason that it's a significantly shorter commute to Springfield.

Lately, it seems that every time I post about Sen. Frerichs, someone thinks I'm being too hard on the guy, regardless of whether I actually criticize him at all.  Which part of this post did you find objectionable?

Gifford got punk'd.

Talk to the people in Gifford.  They're not sorry to see the circus leave town.

Actually I wasn't really referring to you.  As you said, you brought up the item because it was interesting.

In fact, I signed in this morning to apologize for my snarkiness on this topic last night.  Not for the message, but for the manner of delivery.  But even so, much nastier and more ignorant replies have been directed (usually by "Anonymous") to posts  much less controversial than this one.

Usually, I call you on it when your personal bias against Frerichs comes out, but I didn't see any of that in what you wrote. I think the comments were not directed toward you, but toward other posters, such as Gregg.

I will continue to talk about Freirchs, the bought and paid for lap dog to the Boy Governor. I'm sure the people of Gifford are glad to be rid of Him.

Cool - just making sure.

Fair enough - I appreciate constructive criticism.

Funny; $270,000 buys a mansion in Champaign. Down here in Florida, it will barely get you 4 double-wide walls and if you're lucky a hurricane damaged roof.

For the records, the new Frerichs residence is fairly modest for the neighborhood -- not what I would call a mansion.  But a few doors down and across the street...

Did they send him to Springfield just to get him out?  (Not actually all that uncommon.)

Isn't that address in Naomi Jakobson's senate district?

Isn't that address in Naomi Jakobson's senate district?

It is in the 103rd House District , which is Naomi's. It is still within the 52nd Senate District.

Did they send him to Springfield just to get him out?

Hey Dan, the 52nd consists of more than just Gifford.
