That was my fault - I disabled a plugin last night to upgrade something, and forgot to re-enable it.

I haven't heard anything about the role of turnout in this election. Does anyone have any insights?

Does the strength of the Greens locally mean future minority party status for county board Dems? Dems came awful close to losing a couple county board seats and a big part of that was Green candidates taking what were probably normally Democratic votes and thereby helping Republicans.

Does anyone have information as to the objectives to this the Staley-Rising Corridor Study scheduled for tomorrow night?
Is this a sub activity of the "Big, Small, All" effort for Champaign County's future?

I did find these participants in a 'flier' advertising the meeting:
City of Champaign
Champaign County Highway Department
Hensley Township
Champaign Urbana Mass Transit District
Champaign County Regional Planning Commission

I am a Transportation Planner with the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission and a project planner for the Staley/Rising Corridor Study. This study is independent of the big.small.all initiative, but will take into consideration what big.small.all says. Staley/Rising Corridor Study is a 24-month planning process that will ultimately make recommendations for land use and transportation network development in the study area, which is bounded by Barker to the west, I-57 to the east, Hensley Road to the north, and Old Church Road to the south.

Tomorrow night's public meeting will be the kickoff for the study. The meeting is on Tuesday, Nov 13th from 6-8 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 3601 S Staley Rd, Champaign. For the first part of the evening we will have a presentation/displays on existing conditions in the study area. The second part of the workshop will ask participants about issues and opportunities they perceive for the study area.

The website for the corridor study is not quite up yet, but will be available shortly on CCRPC's website, www.ccrpc.org. If you would like more information about this study, feel free to contact me via email at chavarria@ccrpc.org or 328-3313.

Thanks Susan. You do a super job with the public at these meetings. This is an important corridor and we need good decisions made.

Where have all the wacko partisans gone? Wenalway, j-dub, curious, just call me anonymous, and now for something completely different, run4cvrlib, veritas vos liberabit, and more? I am having withdrawals from the hilarity of boneheads spouting off.

I don't think I can wait for another year and a half to hear about how Cheney should be prez, or Murtha is a traitor, or Hillary is gonna win win win, or where do I sign up for Guliani (or how do I get away with defacing Guliani signs).

Isn't anyone wound up yet about Mayor Rosales, or that two faced snake what's-his-name, or anything?

I can't speak for everyone, but when I read phrases like "wacko partisans" and "the hilarity of boneheads spouting off," I can hardly wait for the next opportunity to engage in an intelligent, rational exchange with the writer responsible for those insightful words.

There -- is that what you've been missing?

really, there must be some hapless status quo defender that we can offend

no, that's too tame, smirks are far from hilarity.

I guess I'll have to be patient.

CPU, I have been pretty busy lately, but hope to start firing off some good right wing whacko stuff for you soon enough.

I think the Clinton machine will be destroying Obama bit by bit if he announces, the City of Champaign races will be a blast, and GRod is going to continue to do stuff to ruin Illinois.

but you'll have to wait for more detail - sorry.

Great! I hope the lefties post good stuff, too!

I'll accept a smirk as a sign of progress for now.

I just typed and erased two entirely different continuations of this post, so I guess that means I'm not ready to dispense any more laughing gas just yet.
