Who wants to be the first to say that Rumsfeld cut and ran?

Oh, I guess it was me.

Laugh it up... Bush was smart on that one, he preempted the Democrat's play. When they start investigating and trying to make Bush suffer he can say that he's "trying to move forward" while the Democrats are senselessy dragging up the past and presenting no alternative for the future.

HA! El Presidente told the Press Corps that he was already planning it several days ago. They called him on it asking why he told them his pal (Rummy) wudn't goin' nowhere at that time. They got the standard reply of dere's a War on ya know. Then, the guy singles out his Nemesis, "Stretch", during the Nationally televised Press Conference to ask him if he thought he (GW) was caving under the pressure and losing his mind. Did anybody else see the press conference? The next 2 years are going to be painful but interesting to watch.

John, you don't actually think that investigating the past is "senselessly dragging up the past and presenting no alternative for the future", that's just how Bush is going to try to frame it, right?

I mean, it's not like history is a meaningless discipline, right?

Good one xian! I assume the irony is implied through the fact that GW was a history major. Or was that too subtle for most? As for dragging up the past goes, I'll settle for just knowing where all the Iraq reconstruction money has went!

I have it I work for Haleburton.

May the Phoenix that ascends from these ashes have the winds of reason and truth beneath its wings.

A take on the elections from the Family Research Council:

"When "integrity voters" saw that Republicans had abandoned their principles, they ultimately abandoned the GOP. From Indiana and Pennsylvania to Florida and Kentucky, Democratic challengers embraced a partisan realignment--not as Nancy Pelosi's radical replicas, but as bona fide men and women of faith. These proclaimed pro-life, pro-God Democrats, once extinct, have returned to compete for the confidence of voters."

Klaatu, If you are referring to the GOP, it'll be the first time in about 50 years. But hey, you can hope!

What makes you think that Congress can't subpoena Rumsfeld even if he's not the Sec'y of Defense?

Congress can subpoena "private" citizens, you know.

Here we go MacCarthy era part2 the search for something to impeach Bush on. I am sure they will find some under some rock somewhere to make up.

Wasn't McCarthy a Republican?

I'm sure Ken Starr is available. He comes with great Witch-Hunt references.

Do you totally not get what "McCarthy Era" means or what happened during it?

Or is there some other "MacCarthy era" that I don't know about?

If you want McCarthy Era politics, it's people creating blacklists of academics who should be fired based despite their extreme competence at their jobs...

This board has several McCarthyites and none of them are against the president.

run4cvrlib is sometimes bitter, and seldom erudite

run must've meant the Eugene McCarthy era. No blacklists, just voters expressing outrage at an unpopular war, causing the leaders who got us into that war to leave office in shame. Actually, that sounds like an accurate analogy for this week's events ... maybe we are in a new McCarthy era!

No I knew what I was talking about a out of control Congress of one ideology using it's power to attack the another perceived Ideology to try to falsely destroy it. Just preparing everyone for what's to come when Rangel and Schumer take over their committees. Better start hiding your money and your guns.

No just call it as I see it.

run, a little punctuation

I am saving for you

Run,

But the last 12 years have been a shining period of enlightenment, delicately steered by Angelic Republicans for the betterment of all Americans.

Now that it's Democrats in the Majority, obviously there will be Goat Blood and Human Sacrifices in the streets. Dogs and Cats, Living together, Mass Hysteria.

Go home and listen to Rush some more.

Cheap--See Cheap confirms my comment. Who would make statements about another group of people like that unless they had so much unfounded hatred for them that they must attack them like that.

yes, run, you never see any broad generalizations about people made by the right-wing

runny still feels bad about losing.

place your bets: How soon will run make the claim: The Democrats stole the election/cheated/merely confused voters/lied lied lied?

Two days is the over/under.

Here's an example for you. Textbook.

I don't know *who* wrote this.

Musta been angry.

See it continues the attacks on me I think you should read my other comments about Mike and his family before you call me bitter. Sticks and stone, it's funny how you attack people and then make fun of them for responding like they have done something wrong how hypocritical.

As far as my Ideology comments and Dem's attacking Rep's I think if you want and example go over to "Allen concedes..." post and read how your fellow Dem's are talking about Impeachment or using impeachment as a hammer to get the Bills passed they want. I had posted the comments I made because I had seen the Dem's I listed make the comments about having their witch hunts on CNN/ABC they were not broad brush comments but observations I was reporting to you and others about actual Congressman.

No I am unhappy that Judy lost, am neither angry nor bitter. I have been evolved in politics for 15 years I have won some and lost some losing is always a possibility. We really didn't do so badly in Champaign County while I always go out to win, winning in the most Liberal part of the 52nd district is close to impossible. As I see it looking at the results Mike really didn't do that well in Champaign County he lost in Rantoul were he went to school and should have won easily. On campus he was held to the same numbers as Dannel McCollum not a great turn out for a young energetic candidate on a campus full of students. Champaign which isn't conservative I laughed when the guy called into WDWS and said that it was remember the 103rd does not include southwest Champaign. Kacich and you Dem's must be trying to spin Mike back into a Moderate that won't happen as long as I am around. Oh I guess I forgot Urbana well Urbana is Urbana if he can't do better there then he's got problems. In rural parts of the county Mike got killed. So I am not bitter or mad we really didn't do so badly in Champaign County it could have been better.

On to the next battle see you on the on field you ready. I love the smell of yard signs in the morning.
